A few years ago I was in these videos for the band Copeland which you can watch below, and within one of these songs are hauntingly beautiful vocals that captured my attention. Recently, after coming upon these videos again, I decided to find out more about the girl singing with Copeland. Turns out her name is Rae Cassidy. My friend Vivian gave me a huge bag of vintage patterns and I had so much fun sorting through them finally this past weekend. I even picked a few patterns out for starters that I want to tweak and make for myself. Tucked inside that big bag of patterns was also this “Style News” booklet from 1952. Wouldn’t I love to get a bag of these dresses in the flesh as a hand me down?! Wishing on this prettiness:

I popped into Niland & Co. today in downtown Annapolis to see the new things by Karin Karlsson, the designer behind Kajs (pronounced like rice but with a K, kice). The scandinavian jewelry sculptor is always putting together something beautiful, capturing moments of nature, and turning them into permanent wearable sculptures. I’m personally eyeing up those geode earrings (upper right), the plain tree branch pendant (lower right), and that rugged quartz ring (lower left) that looks like a big stone.

Make The Most of What You Have

I’d have to say that, pretty much, that’s my philosophy when it comes to everything. This week I’ve been on a kick to use stuff I already own to solve a problem around the house.

What I have: A mountain of toilet paper rolls.

What I need: Something to put on that remaining big nakcd wall in the living room.

Solution:

What I have: An ikea curtain panel a family member was getting rid of, but I thought was too fun to pass up.

What I need: Something to hang above our bed since we don’t have a headboard.

Solution:

What I have: A couch with a freakishly loud blue slipcover, and a stash of fabrics: Vintage lace and cream textures.

What I need: A fresh update on a couch I love to sit on, but doesn’t go at all with the current neutral living room aesthetic.

Solution:

What I have: A long wooden side table and a stash of fabric.

What I need: A way to add color to a too neutral area of a room as well as cover up the now damaged (and not weathered in a good way) top panel.
