Before you get worried, I thought I’d better tell you: During the month of March, things are going to be a tad quiet, in fact, practically silent here at www.kalivoda.wordpress.com. The good news is that it’s just temporary!

Kalivoda is getting packed up and moving to a new studio space with the same fabulous studio-mates (hooray!) and I’m also getting involved with some very stylish local Annapolis businesses. All these exciting things will be keeping me away from the blogosphere, but I’ll be back and can play again on April 1st! No kidding.

A (in progress) was a gift from Barbara G. to redesign however I want. It was her actual wedding dress and came with a voluminous veil. I’m in the process of making it a sleeveless, scoop neck dress with a fishtail hemline.

B (in progress) is a specific project for Sara V. It was originally her Grandmother’s 1940′s wedding dress and we’re redesigning it for her own wedding! I need to dig up the before photo for this one.  I took off the sleeves and sheer high neck, brought up the waistline, took in the sides and shoulders and now the real fun begins: I’m designing a beautiful draped sheer overlay for the top and a sheer overlay trail down the back.

C  is still in it’s original “before” state. It was a gift from Vivian V. who had it as a work prop and I’m allowed to redesign it however I want. There’s lots of beads and lace, a giant bow on the back, puffy sleeves, etc. I haven’t quite decided what I want to do yet but I love the lace trim at the bottom hem.

D is also still in it’s original “before” state. It was a gift from Sarah C. who also had it as a potential work prop and I’m allowed to redesign it however I want. Unfortunately, the fabric is beginning to dry rot which is completely irreversible so redesigning this into something wearable is probably out of the question. However, the fabric might be great for a home decor in a project that leaves the fabric in a permanent position with little pressure on it and doesn’t move. That way it won’t rip but the pretty embroidery can be enjoyed!
